NORTH OF VENTURA:
I love San Ysidro Ranch’s Plow & Angel in Montecito! It’s expensive but less expensive than the more formal Stonehouse Restaurant. (One night we had dinner right next to George Clooney & his wife with Cindy Crawford & her husband. Another night we had dinner near Carol Burnett.)The grounds are quite beautiful.
My other favorite is El Encanto in Santa Barbara. Go for drinks and the amazing view.
A little past Santa Barbara is Cold Spring Tavern. On the weekends it gets busy with the tri-tip but I prefer dining inside the old house. Afterwards, head to Los Olivos for shopping & winery stops.
